Parenting time that feels like family time

Court orders and difficult seasons don't have to make time with your child feel clinical. Haven keeps visits warm, familiar and child-first — while providing professional supervision and thorough documentation.

  • Child-friendly locations — libraries, play centres, playgrounds, TELUS Spark, the Calgary Zoo and other community locations selected around the child's age, needs and interests.
  • Works with your court order — schedules, exchanges and reports aligned with what the court requires.
  • In person or virtual — when distance or circumstances get in the way, connection doesn't stop.

Every service is delivered by a neutral, credentialed professional — and your information stays confidential.

Supervised Visits

When court orders or family circumstances require parenting time to be supervised, Haven provides a safe, neutral and child-focused environment where parents can maintain and rebuild meaningful connections with their children. Visits take place at a mutually agreed location, with a neutral third party present to supervise and document relevant observations while allowing the parent and child to interact naturally. Our approach recognizes that reunification and reintroduction can take time and may bring a range of emotions for both children and parents.

Supervised Exchanges

Designed to provide a calm and structured transition between parents without requiring direct interaction between them. Arrival and departure times are documented, along with relevant observations during the exchange. This service focuses specifically on the child's transition between parents rather than supervising parenting time.

Virtual Visitations

When face-to-face parenting time cannot occur, connection doesn't have to stop. Visits are conducted over Zoom — supervised and documented the same way as in-person visits. Available to families anywhere in Alberta.

Court & Visitation Reports

Available upon request — a detailed report covering conversations, behaviour, and physical and emotional observations from the visit. Usable as a direct update for the Courts on how visits are going.

Family Mediation

Supporting families through respectful communication, conflict resolution, and child-focused discussions — so decisions get made around the child, not the conflict.

Youth Community Support

Positive, healthy role modelling for youth who haven't had supportive relationships in their lives — nurturing the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of vulnerable young people.

Case Management & Family Support

For families navigating complex parenting arrangements, transitions, communication challenges and ongoing family-court matters, Haven provides practical, individualized support to help families move forward.

Intake & orientation

All parties complete the intake and orientation process — Monday–Sunday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM. Haven reviews the file and determines whether the case is a good fit before moving forward.

Agreement & scheduling

Once intake is complete, Haven prepares a service agreement and guidelines for all parties. A visit or exchange schedule is then confirmed with everyone involved.

Visits begin

Visits and exchanges take place at child-friendly community locations — selected based on the child's age, needs and interests.

Court-ready reports

Upon request, a detailed report documents observations — ready to update the Courts, lawyers or social workers on how parenting time is going.

Our story

Built from inside the family court system

Haven Community Services Inc. was founded in 2021 by Amani — after eight years working where family law actually happens.

Graduating from SAIT in 2013 with a Legal Assistant Diploma, Amani's career took a pivotal turn when she assumed a significant role as a Judicial Court Clerk in Family & Youth at the Provincial Court of Alberta. Over eight years there, she developed an in-depth understanding of Family and Child Protection Legislation — including the Family Law Act, the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the Mental Health Act, the Protection Against Children Abusing Drugs Act, and the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act — along with Emergency Protection Orders, Restraining Orders and other critical court procedures.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed significant gaps in supervised visitation services, particularly for families facing lengthy wait times. Witnessing this firsthand, Amani recognized the pressing need for accessible, timely supervised visitation — and built Haven to make sure families could maintain essential connections during their hardest times.

Fluent in both English and Arabic, she connects with and supports a broad range of families and communities — and continues to volunteer her time beyond her professional role.

Supporting vulnerable children isn't a job description for Amani — it's what she does on her own time, around the world.

Malaysia

Sept 2022

A 10-day volunteer program with Rohingya refugee and Malay communities. Amani helped run an educational camp at a refugee education centre — STEM-based learning, indoor and outdoor activities, and structured psychosocial support helping orphaned and vulnerable children build resilience, emotional growth and a sense of belonging.

South Africa

Oct 2025

Worked directly with vulnerable communities and children — educational and psychosocial programming for orphans focused on life skills, leadership and team building, alongside hands-on community service: rehabilitating homes and schools and packing and distributing food, hygiene and livelihood packages.

Most frequent questions

  1. A parent has been absent from the child(ren)'s life and wants to start a relationship with them.
  2. The non-custodial parent has a history of physical, mental or sexual abuse.
  3. There is a threat of parental kidnapping.
  4. Conviction of a crime.
  5. A parent has neglected the child(ren).
  6. A parent has a mental illness that poses harm to the child(ren).

Call us at (403) 397-5599 Monday–Sunday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM to schedule an intake appointment. All parties will complete the intake and orientation process — once documentation is reviewed, Haven determines whether the case is a good fit and, if so, prepares a service agreement and schedule before visits begin.

  1. Ongoing contact appears too stressful or traumatic for the child(ren).
  2. Haven determines it cannot effectively address safety or other issues in the case.
  3. The case places an undue demand on the service's resources.
  4. A party harasses or threatens the supervisor or other parties.
  5. One or both parties fail to comply with the rules of the service.

Visits are supervised personally by Amani — Haven's founder, with 8 years inside Alberta's family and youth court, a Legal Assistant Diploma and Paralegal Certificate, first aid and CPR certification, and extensive experience working with children and families. She holds a current Police Security Clearance and Child Intervention Record Check.
